Man in jail during time of alleged car theftsSTAFF PHOTOGRAPHER Nine charges against a teen accused of stealing from cars were dropped as he was in prison when the offences occurred. A Palmerston North man facing 21 charges of stealing from cars had nine of them dropped because he was in prison when the offences occurred. However, nine of the charges for stealing from cars were dropped, because he was behind bars at the time. Police prosecutor Sergeant Chris Whitmore said he got in touch with Manawatu Prison to find out when Collyns-Aiselabie had been in jail. Collyns-Aiselabie pled not guilty to the remaining charges and was remanded in custody for a case review on August 31.
