A man in his 30s remains in a critical condition in hospital following a serious assault in Ballaghadereen, Co Roscommon, in the early hours of New Year’s Day. The man was taken to Beaumont Hospital in Dublin, where he continues to receive treatment for critical injuries. The incident occurred at around 1am on Thursday, January 1, on Barrack Street in the town. A senior investigating officer has been appointed and an incident room has been established at Castlerea Garda Station to coordinate inquiries.
