The detainee was identified as 50-year-old Bablu Rahman, a resident of the same area and a neighbour to the girl. The girl’s father filed a case with Gopalpur police station following the incident on Friday. According to the case statement, the child was playing near her neighbour Bablu’s house on Friday afternoon, when he lured her into his home with food and tried to rape her there. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to spot and rescued the child, while Bablu managed to flee the scene.
