BEIJING: A would-be thief has been arrested after he spent hours trying but failing to cut into bank cash machines with welding equipment in a city in southern China, Chinese media reported. To evade surveillance cameras while cutting through the machines, he set up a tent-like structure using waterproof canvas supported by a wooden stick. He also cut lines that would have set off alarms. But after trying in vain for more than five hours to cut through the machines and failing to get to the cash, he eventually gave up, the report said. Police managed to track the unemployed man down after several days and he was detained on February 6.
