On September 26, 2017, Rubel had a fight with Fatema over the issue and killed her after losing his temperA Natore court has sentenced a man to life imprisonment for killing his wife over dowry, three months after their marriage in 2017. It also fined Tk1 lakh to the convict which will go to the parents of victim Fatema Khatun as compensation. According to the prosecution, Rubel had married Fatema Khatun of Sirajganj on June 27, 2017. After their marriage, Rubel used to regularly torture Fatema for Tk2 lakh dowry. On September 26, 2017, Rubel had a fight with Fatema over the issue and killed her after losing his temper.
