Police found Tony McRobert, 56, passed out in his vehicle by the side of State Highway 1 in Marlborough. A man found passed out in his vehicle with the ignition on and the car in reverse was on his way to hospital after being hurt at work. He then sentenced McRobert to 100 hours’ community work and disqualified him from driving or obtaining a driving licence for 28 days. After this period, McRobert would need to obtain an alcohol interlock device for any vehicle he intended to operate. After that, normally about 12 months, McRobert would have to obtain a zero alcohol licence, which would last for three years.
