Man fired shotgun to frighten after pub fight

The Luggate Hotel. A man who fired a shotgun outside the Luggate Hotel to scare a man he had been in a fight with has been sentenced to home detention. Blair William Hurndell (43), unemployed of Luggate, got into a fight with another man at the Luggate Hotel on April 27 last year. But a short time later, the defendant took the shotgun outside and fired it in the air. At his sentencing at Queenstown District Court yesterday, Hurndell admitted possession of a sawn-off shotgun, discharging a shotgun with reckless disregard in a public place, possession of cannabis plant, possession of cannabis resin and possession of a cannabis pipe.
