NewsA 32-year-old man died last afternoon after he fell from the elevator at the Gampaha hospital after it got stuck due to a power failure. Police said that the victim, his wife and their child had used the elevator to go down from the 5th floor to the 4th floor when a power failure occurred, resulting in the elevator becoming stuck between the two floors. Hospital staff had managed to safely evacuate the victim's wife and child from the elavator but the victim had fallen to the ground when he tried to jump out of the elevator. The victim has been identified as a resident of Imbulgoda. Gampaha police are investigating.
