A man has died after fire raced through a block of flats in Invercargill early this morning. Emergency services were called to a block of five flats on Tramway Way which were all ablaze just after 1am. Most of the occupants escaped, however the body of a man was later discovered in one of the units. "We had information that he was still in the building so the fire crews' main focus was to get that person," Mr Chalmers said. Two units, including one where the body was found, had been completely destroyed by fire, Mr Chalmers said.
