Detective Branch says the man had a hernia while being brought to the DB office and was immediately hospitalized. Devdas Bhattacharya, additional commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police DB told the Dhaka Tribune that Aslam was detained for questioning on allegation of demanding ransom from the family of a missing man. The family informed the DB that Aslam and his wife had demanded Tk1 lakh in ransom for Niyamul over phone, the source said. Later, a DB team conducted a raid in Mirpur’s Shah Ali area with the victims’ family on Saturday night. The source said Aslam had a hernia problem and fell sick while the car at the DB office gate.
