One man has died and a woman is fighting for her life after a car crash during a police chase. The people in the second vehicle received minor injuries and were taken to hospital as a precaution. Police said the vehicle collided with the group of men aged in their early twenties on Furtherwick Road, Canvey Island, at about 4.10pm on Saturday. Five men were treated at the scene for serious injuries before being taken to hospitals across Essex and London. Officers were in the area responding to an unrelated incident at the time and not to the presence of the BMW.
