The man landed on a building at Queenstown Primary School where vendors were setting up for the Night Noodle Market. A person at the scene said the man had lost control and gone "head over heels" rather than spinning. Queenstown Primary principal Fiona Cavanagh said the staff were "shocked and saddened" to hear of the death on school grounds. It is understood the man was an independent recreational paraglider and was not a customer of local company G-Force Paragliding.
