A man is in a serious condition after being crushed by a roller in South Canterbury on Friday afternoon. A Fire and Emergency spokesman said crews responded to reports of a man suffering a crush injury at the intersection of Muff and Barker roads in Ōrari at 1pm. St John communications adviser Gerard Campbell said a 56-year-old man has been taken to Timaru Hospital with serious injuries. A police communications spokeswoman said it appeared he was in a manhole when his leg was hit with the roller.
