A 64-year-old man is recovering in Wellington Hospital after being crushed in an accident incident at a rubbish transfer station. Emergency services were called to the Otaihanga Transfer Station near Paraparaumu about 11.30am. JOEL MAXWELL/ FAIRFAX NZ The transfer station was closed briefly after the accident, in which a staff member suffered crush injuries. Howie said it was "absolutely" the first time such an injury had happened at the transfer station.
