York Regional Police have charged a man with manslaughter and drug trafficking following the death of a 23-year-old man who overdosed on drugs laced with fentanyl last year. Police say that, in June 2019, they were called to a residence in the area of Stone Road and Bayview Avenue after a man was found dead. Following an investigation, they learned that the victim died as a result of using drugs laced with fentanyl. On Thursday, police arrested Stanley Silvera, 32, of Aurora, and charged him with manslaughter and trafficking. York police communications officer Laura Nicolle pointed to seperate incidents in February 2019 where police found a 33-year-old man dead in Markham and 28-year-old woman dead in Stouffville as a result of fentanyl-laced drugs.
