Mohsin Bashir phoned the emergency service six times in quick succession and made the threats to call handlers. He was detained this week and appeared at Newcastle Magistrates' Court in custody, where he pleaded guilty to a malicious communications offence. On the evening in question, the defendant called 999, spoke to call operators six times and said he would load a gun and shoot the first police officer he sees." Bashir was released on unconditional bail to appear back at the same court on March 20.
