Police arrested the suspect, Selim Reja, 45, of Nimtola's Fokirapara neighbourhood. Ziaur Rahman, officer-in-charge (OC) of Chapainawabganj Sadar Model Police Station, and local sources, said, at night, the child went to a mango grove beside her home to pick mangoes; then Selim attempted to rape her in the grove. Hearing her screams, locals rushed to the area, rescued her, and captured Selim as he tried to run away. The girl was taken to a medical facility for treatment and a case will be filed soon, added the OC.
