NewsAn individual who was allegedly attempting to attack his wife was beaten to death by her relatives and villagers in Pahalagama, Kiriella last evening. The relatives and villagers were in turn assaulting him, the police had been informed. A team of officers who arrived at the location managed to rescue the victim and admit him to the Kiriella hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Police also said the deceased, a 23-year-old resident of Kahawatta, had stabbed and killed his wife's mother and caused serious injuries to his wife in an attack in 2015. The suspects allegedly involved in the killing have been identified and investigations are ongoing to arrest them.
