Enyioha Opara, MinnaThe police in Niger State have arrested a 52-year-old man at Gwachipe in Gurara Local Government Area of the state for unlawful possession of a firearm. The suspect – Abubakar Ahmed – was said to have been apprehended for unlawful possession of a Dane gun. Saturday PUNCH learnt that Ahmed bought the gun from one Mohammed Makeri of Lapai at the rate of N2,000. “I use the gun to hunt; I bought it from a Lapai man who sells to members of the public. Abubakar said, “Police would no longer tolerate unlawful possession of firearms in the state and we have warned people to desist or face the wrath of law.”Copyright PUNCH.
