The arrested, Abdul Aziz, 60, was the third accused in a case filed by the woman under the Woman and Child Repression Act on April 25, the other two were his son and wife. The woman's father said: "Aziz along with my son-in-law Sajib and his family tortured my daughter, constantly demanding for dowry. “On April 23, they tied my daughter up and tortured her with a lighted cigarette.”“The next day, we took her to the Tangail General Hospital and later filed a case against the three.”Detective Branch (DB) of Police OC Shyamol Kumar Dutta said: "We conducted a drive in the Habla area of Basail and arrested Aziz and later sent him to the Tangail court. "Earlier we arrested Sajib, and his mother, who were on the run from the Karatipara area."
