Police say Sutthinan Fungsaichonk, 39, told them after his arrest that he had been told by a voice in his head to do it. Sutthinan said that after hearing the voice, he rode his bicycle from his house to the police station about one kilometre away. The attack happened at 8.30pm and the man was arrested promptly by officers guarding the Samut Prakan provincial hall across the road. Samut Prakan governor Chartchai Uthaiphan and Samut Prakan police chief Pol Maj Gen Thammanoon Traitippayapong spent about an hour interviewing the man and his mother. Chartchai later said Sutthinan's mother said his brain had been damaged in a road accident about ten years ago.
