Man arrested following AOS callout at WaitaraJARRED WILLIAMSON / FAIRFAX NZ Police and AOS members were called to a firearms incident at Waitara. Armed Offenders Squad members and police were called out at Waitara on Sunday after reports a man was threatening others with a gun. However, when they arrived at the scene soon after 1pm the firearm turned out to be an air rifle, Sergeant Kim Vollmer of New Plymouth police said. "Obviously the person who called us did not know what sort of firearm it was at the time." One person had been arrested and charged, and would appear in New Plymouth District Court on Wednesday.
