Man arrested (30s) as bomb unit determines suspect device at Liffey Valley was ‘non-viable’


A man aged in his 30s has been arrested after the bomb disposal unit responded to an incident outside a shopping centre in west Dublin on Wednesday night. Other emergency services, including the gardaí and Dublin Fire Brigade, were also alerted to the incident near the Liffey Valley shopping centre bus terminal. The Defence Forces said bomb disposal experts responded to a request for assistance from An Garda Siochana after 8pm in relation to “suspect device found in the Liffey Valley area of Co Dublin”. The bomb experts determined the device was “non-viable” and the scene was handed over to gardai. The bomb disposal operation was concluded by 10pm.
