Kansas City police have arrested a father and his girlfriend after finding the remains of a child believed to be his young daughter in a wooded area, hours after he had reported her missing. Howard Jansen, 29, the father of three-year-old Olivia Jansen, and his girlfriend Jacqulyn Kirkpatrick, 33, have been charged with first-degree murder, aggravated child endangerment and criminal desecration. A coroner will confirm the identity of the child's remains and how she died, the spokesperson said. Jansen was booked Friday night, according to jail records, and his girlfriend was arrested on Sunday, when the couple were formally charged. Family members told KCTV that they didn't understand why the father had personally gone to police headquarters to report the child was missing.
