A man accused of a violent attack last year at Nova Scotia’s largest hospital is now facing the charges alone after his two legal aid lawyers were granted permission to withdraw from the case Tuesday in Nova Scotia Supreme Court. Coulombe was supposed to appear in the Halifax courtroom in person on Tuesday morning, but he refused to be transported from the jail in Dartmouth. He also accused the judge and lawyers of being part of a conspiracy. Justice Patrick Duncan told Coulombe that without a lawyer, he would be required to appear in person for every subsequent court date. Nova Scotia Legal Aid has approved funding for Coulombe to get another lawyer and the judge strongly recommended he do so.
