NEW DELHI: The man accused of assaulting a German national at a railway station in Uttar Pradesh on Sunday proclaimed his innocence, alleging that it was the tourist who had attacked him, ANI has reported. "I am innocent. The German national punched me when I said 'Welcome to India.' This provoked Yadav, who then allegedly attacked him.GRP later discovered that a case had been filed against the tourist in Himachal Pradesh, and his passport deposited in a Kullu court.The incident is reminiscent of the October 21 mob attack on two Swiss tourists in the state's Fatehpur Sikri . The assault had led external affairs minister Suhsma Swaraj to seek a report from the state government.
