Manchester United have looked to modernise their player recruitment structure after being caught cold by a number of deals. The wheels have been in motion over the last few years as Ed Woodward looks for ways to compete at the top of the game - something they’ve struggled to do since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club. Jose Mourinho finished second and won the Europa League while in charge at United but the club failed to build on his progress with errors in the transfer market and when the toxic atmosphere became too much.
