Manchester United may have struggled to beat Borussia Dortmund to the signing of Erling Haaland even if they had gone all in on the teenager superstar. That’s the suggestion from Dortmund sporting director Michael Zorc, who was heavily involved in talks to sign Haaland from Red Bull Salzburg. Haaland was the hottest property in Europe heading into the January transfer window and all signs were seemingly pointing at a move to Old Trafford. But Dortmund surprised many by stepping in to steal Haaland away from under the noses of United, with the striker hitting the ground running since making his debut.
