Leeds missed the chance to make an immediate return to the Premier League on Sunday after Southampton beat them 1-0 at Wembley. Leeds were slight favourites for the final having finished third in the table and thumped Norwich 4-0 in their play-off semi-final. Fans of rival club Manchester United were no doubt delighted with the result, as was former Red Devils captain Maguire.
