The 28-year-old has fallen down the pecking order in recent years and spent half of last season on loan at West Ham, where he scored nine goals and made five assists in 16 appearances. David Moyes’ West Ham expressed interest in signing Lingard on a permanent deal last summer but it emerged that United would block his exit unless a huge offer was made. But West Ham’s superb form – and Lingard’s spell in east London last season – could sway the player. Moyes’ side are fourth in the Premier League, top of their Europa League group and into the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup, where they will face London rivals Tottenham.
