The likelihood of Manchester United playing an overseas friendly at the beginning of April is receding. With no European football this season, it had been expected the club would try to recoup some money by playing a midweek friendly. The idea gathered momentum once United were knocked out of the FA Cup at the third round stage as it opened up three free weekends. "There is not a black and white answer with that one," said interim boss Michael Carrick. It would depend on where the game is, what it is like, what time it is and when the fixtures fall."
