Manchester United executive vice-chairman has been advised by former forward Robin van Persie to stick by his guns and give manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer more than two years to prove his worth. When Mauricio Pochettino was axed by Tottenham in November fans were hoping the Red Devils would swoop to appoint the Argentine. If United miss out on the top four then it is plausible Woodward will look to make a change. But Van Persie has urged the chief to give Solskjaer time to build his success - just like Sir Alex Ferguson had. "Especially after Alex Ferguson left, everyone realised that it would be tough to stick to that level that Ferguson achieved for all of those years," Van Persie told Omnisport.
