United had explored the possibility of signing Edinson Cavani but the Paris Saint-Germain striker favours a move to Atletico Madrid. Slimani would represent a cheaper option for United as he is currently on loan at Monaco from Leicester City. According to MailOnline, United are ‘eager’ to sign Slimani and have been told that to sign him on loan for the remainder of the campaign would cost them £4 million. The 31-year-old, who was by Leicester for £28m, has scored seven goals in 13 Ligue 1 appearances this season.
