Manchester United ’s chances of finishing in the Premier League top four this season were over once Marcus Rashford was ruled out with a back injury, says former West Ham midfielder Gary O’Neil. Rashford suffered a double stress fracture in his back during the FA Cup third round replay win over Wolves in January. But O’Neil believes the Red Devils should have signed a replacement for Romelu Lukaku last summer, before allowing the Belgian to leave for Inter Milan. United are currently six points adrift of the Champions League qualification places and O’Neil believes Rashford’s absence is the final nail in the coffin of United’s chances.
