Former Manchester United defender Gary Pallister believes Ruben Amorim paid the price for being too ‘stubborn’ and has questioned the wisdom of having a sporting director at Old Trafford. I don’t know what the working relationship was like with Jason Wilcox and Ruben Amorim, nobody can second guess that. They understand football club, the animal that is Manchester United. The fans will understand they will want to be playing the Manchester United way. We need someone who understands the history, the tradition and the DNA of the football club.’
