Police responded to the Basics Housing Men’s Homeless Shelter at 106 West 83rd Street before 2 a.m. Sunday and found a 36-year-old man with a stab wound to his torso on the first floor, officials said. Officers then found a 22-year-old man with stab wounds to the torso on the third floor of the building. The 22-year-old man, who has not been identified, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, according to police. On Tuesday, a man was stabbed to death outside of a homeless shelter in East Elmhurst, Queens, police said. The city increased outreach to street homeless as a result of the killings.
