Ederson attempted to play on after the collision but was quickly replaced when it became clear he was unable to play on. Ortega will now deputise for Sunday’s title decider against West Ham which will see City win an unprecedent fourth Premier League crown in succession should they beat the Hammers on home soil. ‘The injury will prevent Ederson from playing any further part in the remaining games of the 2023/24 season. Ortega started in last season’s final, which City won 2-1, thanks to two goals from former captain Ilkay Gundogan.
