An Eric Bailly own goal, followed by a Bernardo Silva strike guided City to a dominant win and extended the gap between the two sides to six points in the Premier league table. United went into the game with just one Premier League win in their last five matches, with the solitary victory coming against fellow strugglers Tottenham last weekend. Pep Guardiola’s side continued to knock on the door for a second goal, with both Cancelo and Kevin De Bruyne also going close. City almost added a third late on, but Phil Foden’s left-footed strike scraped the outside of the post before drifting wide.
