Manchester City are plotting a summer transfer move for Villarreal star Pau Torres, as Pep Guardiola sees his fellow Spaniard as the ideal partner for Aymeric Laporte. The Citizens have been short of centre-backs this season, after failing to replace outgoing captain Vincent Kompany at the end of last season. The club believed that they had enough cover at centre-back to avoid spending big on a new defender during the summer. City will be looking to sign two new central defenders this summer; one will be to replace Kompany, and one to improve the quality of the squad.
