WEST BROMWICH, England — Manchester City equaled the best start to a Premier League season as it defeated West Bromwich Albion 3-2 on Saturday. City has 28 points from its opening 10 games, matching its own performance under Roberto Mancini in 2011 and Chelsea’s record in 2005. Jay Rodriguez had West Brom level in the 13th minute as he latched onto Gareth Barry’s through ball to dink over the advancing Ederson, but parity didn’t last long for the home side. Sterling came off the bench to give City breathing space as he converted Kyle Walker’s cross in the 64th. Matt Phillips pulled one back for West Brom in stoppage time but City closed out the final moments to extend its impressive start to the season.
