An 87-year-old man was struck on his head by a “small metallic projectile” in a possible hunting accident Saturday as he was walking toward his house in upper Montgomery County, authorities said. County police said the man was hit about 12:40 p.m. as he walked up a hill on his property in the 3700 block of Elton Farm Road in the Brookeville area. Detectives thought that man might have been unintentionally struck by a projectile fired by a hunter, police said. Police described the man’s injury as a “graze wound.”County police said they searched the area of the incident along with officers from the Maryland Natural Resources Police. The largely rural area is west of Georgia Avenue and north of Damascus Road.
