Dorset Police said Sir Richard Sutton, who owned a string of top hotels in London, died on Wednesday during an incident at a property near Gillingham. Sir Richard, one of the UK's wealthiest men, was knifed so many times that shocked police said they "thought he had been shot" when they attended his mansion on Wednesday night. Sir Richard's stepson Thomas Schreiber, from the Gillingham area, has been charged with murder, attempted murder and dangerous driving and is due before magistrates in Poole on Monday. Sir Richard was remembered as an "extraordinary country gentleman" and a "lovely man" by a woman who worked for him for many years. The guide says Sir Richard's company owns London hotels the Sheraton Grand Park Lane and the Athenaeum, plus three smaller venues.
