This is Malmö’s first ever European meeting with Crvena Zvezda and also their first against a Serbian side. On the date of this game it’ll have been 68 years and 60 days since Crvena Zvezda last faced a Swedish team in major European competition – they beat IFK Norrköping 2-1 in November 1957 in the European Cup. Malmö have won just one of their last 28 major European matches (D4 L23), winning 2-1 away at Qarabag in October 2024 in the UEFA Europa League. Crvena Zvezda have won their last three UEFA Europa League matches, winning each of them 1-0. They haven’t won four major European games in a row since their first four games as reigning champions in the 1991-92 European Cup.
