Mall claims escalator misuse led to woman's injury - Community

PETALING JAYA: The management of a popular mall here has claimed that an escalator mishap that resulted in a bad gash on a woman's calf was a result of misuse. "During investigation, findings have shown that there had been misuses to the escalator prior to the occurrence, including baby strollers and other lack of escalator etiquettes that are contributing factors to aggravating the escalator prior to the incident," it said in an official statement Monday. Viral images showed the victim sitting beside an escalator with a bad gash on her calf while friends were seen consoling her. "The mall will introduce unipoles at all escalator take-offs and landings to curb strollers, trolleys, wheelchairs or any form of similar items from the escalator. – BernamaRelated story:Woman's leg badly cut by malfunctioning escalator
