KUALA LUMPUR: The country's producer price index (PPI), which measures the prices of goods at factory gate, eased to 10.9% in June 2022 as compared to 11.2% in the previous month. The manufacturing sector, which has an 81.6% weighting on the index, posted slower growth of 10% in June. "Although the sub-sectors from this sector recorded a two-digit increase, the magnitude of increase has slowed down. "Similarly, manufacture of food products posted a slower increase to 18.6% in June 2022 from 19.3% recorded in the previous month. "Manufacture of chemicals & chemical products also eased from 11.4% in May 2022 to 10.5% in June 2022," said Mohd Uzir in a statement.
