Malaysian tourism sector all set for rebound

Malaysian Association of Hotels (MAH) chief executive officer Yap Lip Seng says the June 10 commencement of the next phase of the MCO will be significant for the tourism sector as it signals the beginning of the recovery of domestic tourism. “Malaysian hotels are ready to receive and serve guests, and standard operating procedure (SOP) has always been part and parcel of hotel operations. On Sunday, Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin announced that the domestic tourism sector could resume operations on June 10 during the recovery MCO phase. He added that MATTA would organize an online domestic travel fair in September followed by a physical fair if the situation in the country improves. “People will not immediately travel once the recovery MCO starts, but I believe people will return in a staggered manner from July.
