Malaysian man attempts to rob Singapore store, is thwarted by 78-year-old woman

KUALA LUMPUR: A Malaysian man has been arrested in Singapore for trying to hold up a convenience store run by a 78-year-old woman on Wednesday. Channel NewsAsia reported that the 28-year-old man brandished a penknife and demanded money from the woman who manages Everyday Mart, a convenience store on Tyrwhitt Road. According to Sin Chew, the man attempted the robbery only when he saw that the septuagenarian was alone in the convenience store. He took out a penknife and demanded that the woman hand over the cash – but to his surprise, she wasn't about to give in without putting up a fight. I only knew he was serious when he reached for the cashier," the woman was quoted as saying by Sin Chew.
