Malaysia's Brightway Holdings Bhd has denied hundreds of workers are living in metal shipping containers in conditions described by a minister as modern slavery. Malaysia aims to file 30 charges against glove maker Brightway Holdings Sdn Bhd and two of its subsidiaries, after raids that found workers' accommodation was not up to legal standards. Hundreds of foreign workers were believed to be living in the overcrowded container blocks which were in a deplorable state and without the minimum level of facilities provided for the workers, state news agency Bernama said. Human Resources Minister M Saravanan said liing conditions at a factory in Kajang were the worst he had ever seen. “This looks like modern slavery,” he told Astro Awani, Freemalaysiatoday.com reports.
