KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia yesterday join four other countries in reaffirming a common resolve to seek justice and accountability against those responsible for the downing of Malaysia Airlines flight MH17 three years ago. The five countries including Ukraine, Belgium, Australia and the Netherlands, signed the Memorandum of Undestanding on “Political Support to Prosecute the Perpetrators of the Downing of MH17” in New York, at the margins of the on going 72nd United Nations General Assembly. “Malaysia is unwavering in its commitment to prosecute the perpetrators of the MH17’s downing and secure justice for all the victims, their families and loved ones. On July 7, Minister of Security and Justice of the Netherlands Stef Blok and Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko signed a bilateral treaty on international legal cooperation in relation to MH17. According to a statement issued by the Government of the Netherlands, the treaty provides that those suspected of downing flight MH17 can be prosecuted in the Netherlands in respect of all the victims.
