Chief Minister M.K. Stalin on Wednesday (February 18, 2026) said the Indian Constitution should be amended to make it more federal in nature, asserting that federalism was the foundation of India’s pluralistic character and that the amended Constitution “will not weaken the Union of India”. Mr. Stalin said all States harboured aspirations for greater autonomy and that the Union should be federal in nature and governed collectively by the States.
